The Reason

Our good friend Ronson form the Reason is playing the Casby Awards this Thursday in Toronto along side with Bedouin Soundclash, Sam Roberts, The Sheepdogs, USS and Hey Rosetta!.
John and I are going and I’m excited to dress up and wear a Sugar Skull!

The Arkells ruled so hard tonight! So did my pals The Reason! Who was all there!? What did you think of the show and Festival of Friends!?

Seeing the Arkells and our jam space pals The Reason today. So excited :)
So much talent coming from Hamilton right now :)

One of my very last duties of the day besides waiting around for Rise Against to leave their trailer so we could tidy it. Was gather all the ice bins full of water/ice/drinks around the festival. One of them was gathered at the sound guy booth in the center of the field. So I got to watch the last 4-5 songs of Rise Against’s set from the center. It was so great. It was honestly the busiest day ever. But I loved every second of it and would do it again in a heart beat! We need music like we need food.

Near the end of the night I had to clean out two trailers and make sure the showers were working so A Perfect Circle could use them after their set. I then had to guard them and make sure no one else used them. By this point I finally had my first beer of the day and the sun was setting so I was happy to just stand there for a bit and enjoy a brew. I met a couple members on their way in and out. Kinda star struck.

I know it’s slightly hard to see with the large tree in the way but this was during the Arkells set backstage. I ended up helping head production/hospitality backstage ALL day. It was well over 12 hours of being someone’s assistant. We drove bands in the golf cart all over the back stage area. From their trailers to the autograph signing booth and even to catering. I got to chill with the pals of The Reason and meet the Arkells again. I even fetched coke-a-cola for the boys of Rise Against. I’ve never done that much running around. Or carried so many 100lb bags of ice in my life. For a festival like that to run smoothly with such great talent, it takes a lot to make it happen. So lucky :)

I took this when I first arrived to volunteer at edgefest. Before the gates were even open. I literally had no idea what I’d be doing that day. I thought I’d be stuck at guest list or checking VIP passes, which I was totally cool doing….But I got a way cooler job.

Later tonight I’m going to be blogging about Edgefest and my experience working for them. It was truely unreal.
